Wat Lokayasutharam was built in 1452. Its highlight is the 42 meter long reclining Buddha with his head resting on a lotus shape. The Buddha image is now in the open without walls or roof to prevent heat and moisture. According to local people, there was once a building with tin roof protecting the Buddha, but it was struck down by lightnings twice.
Not a main feature of the temple, but after a long day of sightseeing, coconuts served here by local vendors seem like a very good idea.
